Group Captain Peter Noake was born in Perth, growing up in Exmouth and Mandurah. He joined the Royal Australian Air Force in 1988, graduating from the Australian Defence Force Academy in 1990 as a Logistics Officer.
He has enjoyed a diverse range of postings over his 37 year career spanning airbase operations, command, air combat logistics, support to Joint Operations, UN Peacekeeping operations and key strategic policy and staff jobs.
Career highlights include deployments to Somalia in 1993-94; East Timor in 2001; the Solomon Islands in 2003 as the Australian Airbase Commander; the Middle East in 2013 running supply chain operations during the drawdown of Australian forces from Afghanistan; and to the UAE in 2016 as the Commander of the Combat Support Unit supporting coalition forces operating throughout the Middle East, Africa and Afghanistan.
Group Captain Noake was appointed as the inaugural Director Regional Air Domain Posture—West in September 2023. In this role he is responsible for implementing key directives from the Defence Strategic Review and CAF’s Agile Operations Directive to develop of a network of military and civilian airbases and airstrips to support Air Force’s combat and logistics operations across the north of Australia.
